I saw people using water slide decals for fake nails, and decided I wanted to give it a try. I made these nails the day before going to the Big Time Rush concert, and they looked AMAZING! I never used it before, but the instructions were easy to follow. I got the clear version since I knew I’d be using nail polish for the background. Note: they suggest using a spray sealant before putting the decal in water. If you don’t use a sealant, the image will come right off in the water. I didn’t have a spray sealant, but I figured a layer of clear nail polish top coat would do the trick – and it did! The paper was able to stay flexible even with the polish layer. After placing my images, I was able to cut around to get a nice finish. However, you really need something sharp, as the paper is wet and kinda squishy. Safety scissors will cut it, but not cleanly. This may be different if you’re working with something bigger, though. It’s very forgiving as it allows you to move it around while it’s still wet. Because I used the clear paprler and the background was holographic, that does show through a bit. I found the image to still look quite opaque and clear. I included images in the sunlight golden hour so you can see how much the background shows through at the max. I’m excited to use waterslide decals on many more things!
